Sweetch Energy accelerates the deployment of its technology with the signing of a joint venture with Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR)

Sweetch Energy, a renewable energy company specialising in osmotic energy, announces the creation of a joint venture with its industrial partner CNR (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône). The creation of this joint venture marks a significant step forward in the deployment of the technology developed by Sweetch Energy, which makes it possible to produce electricity on an industrial scale from osmotic energy, generated naturally by the difference in salinity between the freshwater of rivers and seawater when they meet. By early 2024, an osmotic power generation pilot station in the Rhône Delta will be commissioned by Sweetch Energy on a site operated by the CNR.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Rennes with around 40 employees, Sweetch Energy has been supported by Demeter since its first seed financing round in 2017.
